Connect With Jesus
God created man in His own image. This makes every person special and created to have a personal relationship with God. Unfortunately, we as humans chose to go our own way and sin against God. This has created a separation between us and God. Since God is holy, he cannot allow sin to go unpunished and yet because of his mercy and love for us he is unwilling to let us exist without hope of a restored relationship.
God Himself made a solution, sending Jesus who is uniquely qualified to take our punishment on Himself so that we could experience God’s mercy and have a restored relationship with Him. In making this provision, God does not force anyone to accept this gift – each individual must make their own choice in following Jesus. Scripture says In Romans 10:9-10,
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Notice that it is a deep heart felt faith that is the key. This is life changing.
How to Connect with Jesus - The Gospel
Believe God actually loves you! (John 3:16)
Recognize that you are a sinner and have rebelled against God (Rom 3:23)
Realize that because of your sin you are separated from God and deserve his wrath, but would rather have His mercy (Rom 6:23)
Understand that although sin separates us from God, He provided a means by which He Himself bore the punishment of our sins. That means God sent His son Jesus to bear our punishment. (Isa 53:6)
Confess before God that you have sinned and acknowledge that He is the Lord. In doing so, believe that He demonstrated His power to forgive sins through the death of his Son Jesus. (Rom. 10:9-10; 1 John 1:9)
Assemble at least weekly with other believers so that you can learn to grow in your new relationship with Jesus. (Heb 10:24-25)
